Experience the sound of silence!

Words can not conjure up the magical mystery and wonders of Breiðafjörður Bay and the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. This area of the mid-west coast of Iceland has captured the imagination of visitors from all over the world and is fast becoming one of the country's "hottest" places. For nature lovers this is definitely a "must see" place when in Iceland.

Lush green valleys and rugged lava fields, craters and salmon rivers are the characterizing contrasts of this part of Iceland. When visiting, you will also have the opportunity to learn about two of Iceland's most famous Viking sons: Erik the Red, who discovered Greenland; and his son, Leif the Lucky, who discovered America.

Breiðafjörður Bay is renowned for its stunning beauty, with the perfect frame of mountains, high and low, highlighting the scenery. The most famous of these mountains is the majestic and mystical Snæfellsnes Glacier, towering at the coastal edge of the peninsula.

The southern islands of Breiðafjörður Bay are teeming with a fantastic variety of bird life. In the town of Stykkishólmur there is a choice of restaurants and accommodation to suit all tastes. The locality also offers a range of exciting recreational activities, swimming, museums, historic buildings and, last but not least, breath-taking scenery.
