Sailing from the Landeyjahöfn harbor to the West Man Island's with the ferry Herjólfur takes about 35 minutes. During the cruise, we encourage passengers to enjoy the magnificent scenery and the diverse birdlife that is visible from Herjólfur's deck.
Landeyjahöfn – The West Man Islands
The main sailing route to the West Man Islands lies to and from the Landeyjahöfn harbor. The harbor is situated west of the mouth of the Markarfljót river at Landeyjar and has been in operation since 2010. A trip from Landeyjahöfn to the West Man Islands takes only about 35 minutes.
Þorlákshöfn – The West Man Islands
In the event that the Landeyjahöfn harbor is closed, Herjólfur will sail to the West Man Islands from the Þorlákshöfn harbor (more likely to occur during the winter). Considering that it takes about three hours to sail from the Þorlákshöfn harbor to the West Man Islands, the ferry only makes two trips per day.
